If you want healthy shoulders, then you want the shoulder blades to be able to move around the ribcage (protraction), albeit with as much joint congruency as possible. Meaning, you want the scapulae and rib cage to be making out and staying in contact with one another. This is one of the drills I use for that purpose. – Tony Gentilcore
